FirstEnergy Adds Crew Status Info to Power Outage Maps and Alerts
With the support of iFactor’s Storm Center outage maps and Notifi alert system, FirstEnergy is continuing to improve outage information for its stakeholders. FirstEnergy recently added crew status information to its power outage maps and customer alerts to help customers understand the progress of service restoration efforts.
Earlier this year, iFactor added crew status information to FirstEnergy outage maps and customer alerts, allowing customers to receive this information online, through email, or via text message. The crew status information is updated when a crew is dispatched to a work order, when the crew arrives on site to make repairs, and when additional crews are requested to complete repairs.
According to a news release issued by FirstEnergy, the addition of crew status information is expected to help keep customers informed about the restoration process during outage events.
“We work continuously to improve the experience for our customers on two fronts: strengthening and enhancing service reliability, and making it easier for customers to connect with us and get the information they need if they do experience a power outage,” said Steve Strah, vice president of Distribution Support. “This new feature, combined with estimated restoration times and outage causes, is designed to give customers a better idea of what is being done to quickly restore their service.”
In order to further spread the news, the Company also announced the communications enhancement on their Twitter and Facebook accounts. Adding crew status to customer communications is the latest example of FirstEnergy’s commitment to providing its customers with the most up-to-date information available.
