iFactor Launches Storm Center Outage Map at Georgia Utility

On June 3, iFactor launched an outage map for Georgia Power that uses our Storm Center™ product to display real-time information about outage locations, estimated restoration times, and outage causes. Georgia Power’s implementation of Storm Center is part of a larger Outage Communications project which also includes a StreetLight Outages™ website launched in April and an upcoming Notifi® customer preference management implementation to enable Georgia Power customers to sign up for email and text alerts.

The screenshots below demonstrate the major features of Georgia Power’s outage map:

Georgia Power Storm Center outage map
This screenshot shows Georgia Power’s main outage map site – the “Check Outage Status” and “Report an Outage” buttons at the top of the map allow Georgia Power customers to log in to their utility accounts to access more detailed information.
Map detail with county and zip tables
In addition to the description boxes for individual outage locations, Georgia Power’s map includes tables that list the number of customers out by ZIP code or by county.

Map layer with weather radar layer
The outage map is optimized for both desktop and mobile devices, and it also includes a weather radar layer powered by Weatherbug.

We are excited to see this website in action, and are working hard on Georgia Power’s Notifi implementation to be launched later this year!
