Rick Watkin - President and CEO

Rick Watkin has served as President and CEO of KUBRA since 1999, having first joined the company in 1995. He provides the company's long-term vision, guides day-to-day operations, and fosters a culture that is both engaged and client-centric. Under his leadership, KUBRA has achieved significant organic growth, executed a successful management buyout with private equity, and completed numerous strategic acquisitions, culminating in a private sale to the Hearst Corporation. An actively engaged leader in the business and technology communities, Watkin is affiliated with several prominent organizations, including Abundance360, The Alliance, The Forbes Technology Council, and YPO. He serves on various advisory boards focused on cryptocurrency, blockchain, and fintech. His leadership has earned him the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, as well as recognition as a judge for both this award and Canada's 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures. During his tenure, KUBRA has been repeatedly named one of Canada's 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures™.

Shazir Khan - Chief Technology Officer

Shazir oversees product management and engineering with a focus on creating a harmonized and integrated technology road map. He has worked in the regulated utility industry for more than 25 years in the fields of solution design, software engineering, and consulting. Shazir’s expansive experience in this sector allows him to effectively bridge the often deep divide between technologists and business leaders. An effective team leader and motivator, Shazir combines his strong product management skills with enthusiasm and optimism to consistently deliver best-in-class software solutions. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Shazir served as the CEO and President of iFactor from 2004 until that company’s acquisition by KUBRA in January 2016.

Mariam Chaudhry - Chief Financial Officer

Mariam oversees our finance organization and is responsible for driving strategic planning, operational execution, and business optimization. She also manages financial reporting, financial planning, analytics, treasury, and tax activities. With over 17 years in financial leadership and operational execution, Mariam has built strong relationships with shareholders, banks, customers, and strategic partners. Prior to joining KUBRA, she was VP of Global Finance at Zynik Capital and CFO at Noble Iron, where she advanced significant growth initiatives. Her expertise encompasses mergers and acquisitions, audits, risk management, and organizational efficiency. She is highly skilled at aligning the finance function as a strategic partner across the organization to foster business success. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brooks University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) as well as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).

Tony Di Iorio - Chief Operating Officer

Tony is charged with developing and executing KUBRA’s vision and strategic growth through technology and solution innovation. He provides leadership of KUBRA’s delivery of services and operation, ensuring exceptional client experience across KUBRA’s enterprise solution platform. Tony has over 30 years of progressive management experience in successfully scaling organizations by building high performing teams focused on optimizing technologies and processes. He is an MBA graduate from Schulich School of Business and Professional Engineer from University of Toronto. Tony is actively involved in various charitable organizations and is a Platinum ambassador for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in Toronto. 

Mark Visic - Chief Growth Officer

Mark is responsible for our mergers and acquisition activities, setting corporate business development strategy, and developing and managing sales channels and partner alliances. He has more than 20 years of sales, marketing, and consulting experience in the customer experience management and payment industries. Mark joined KUBRA in 1995 and has served in a variety of sales leadership and executive management roles. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with honors in Economics and Political Science from the University of Toronto. Mark is currently part of several community-based non-profit organizations and is a member of various industry marketing associations.

Vicky Edwards - General Counsel

Vicky oversees all legal work for KUBRA including responsibility for contracts, intellectual property, leases, insurance, and litigation. She has more than 20 years of experience in senior legal positions in the financial services and technology sectors and joined KUBRA in 2011. Prior to that, Vicky was the Vice President, General Counsel and a Director for Portland Investment Counsel and AIC Limited. Vicky is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and holds LL.M., LL.B, and BA degrees.
