TCPA and CAN-SPAM Compliance: 5 Best Practices for Utilities
In the United States, utilities are bound by the Telephone Consumers Protection Act (TCPA) – which sets rules for marketing by telephone, fax, and SMS text message, and restricts the use of automatic telephone dialing systems – and the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 – which sets the rules for commercial email, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to opt out of messages, and defines penalties for violations.
